Russia shares lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia down 0.03%

Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining , Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 0.03%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX: SFIN ), which rose 7.69% or 50.0 points to trade at 700.0 at the close. Yandex NV (MCX: YNDX ) added 5.60% or 117.50 points to end at 2215.00 and NK Rosneft PAO (MCX: ROSN ) was up 4.71% or 18.05 points to 401.05 in late trade.

Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX: TRNF_p ), which lost 4.87% or 8400 points to trade at 164050 in late trade. Polyus OAO (MCX: PLZL ) declined 3.63% or 145.0 points to end at 3850.0 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX: RUAL ) shed 3.41% or 1.060 points to 30.000.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 117 to 78 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.52% to 27.050.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1305.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $67.44 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.07 to trade at $73.06 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 1.54% to 63.9118, while EUR/RUB rose 0.46% to 76.4167.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 92.52.
