Russia shares lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia down 0.95%

Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power , Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 0.95%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NK RussNeft PAO (MCX: RNFT ), which rose 2.30% or 13.5 points to trade at 600.0 at the close. NMTP (MCX: NMTP ) added 2.23% or 0.1400 points to end at 6.4100 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX: POLY ) was up 1.82% or 10.00 points to 558.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included X5 Retail Group NV (MCX: FIVEDR ), which lost 4.33% or 76.5 points to trade at 1691.5 in late trade. Inter rao ees (MCX: IRAO ) declined 3.25% or 0.1425 points to end at 4.2400 and FSK EES (MCX: FEES ) shed 2.80% or 0.0049 points to 0.1686.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 129 to 88 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 2.82% to 23.730.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.50 to $1229.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $68.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.21 to trade at $72.79 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.15% to 63.5707, while EUR/RUB rose 0.33% to 74.3900.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 94.40.
