Russia shares lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia down 1.10%

Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining , Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 1.10%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Rosseti ao (MCX: RSTI ), which rose 1.28% or 0.0100 points to trade at 0.7906 at the close. Lukoil (MCX: LKOH ) added 0.81% or 35.0 points to end at 4334.0 and PIK (MCX: PIKK ) was up 0.74% or 2.50 points to 339.90 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ALROSA ao (MCX: ALRS ), which lost 4.14% or 4.160 points to trade at 96.240 in late trade. Sberbank Rossii PAO (MCX: SBER ) declined 4.06% or 8.78 points to end at 207.50 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX: SBER_p ) shed 3.93% or 7.25 points to 177.25.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 148 to 66 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.88% to 21.860.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.90% or 11.00 to $1216.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.25% or 0.17 to hit $67.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.40 to trade at $72.50 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 1.24% to 63.7491, while EUR/RUB rose 0.90% to 73.9891.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 95.23.
