Russia shares lower at close of trade; MICEX down 0.28%

Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining , Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.28%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX: VTBR ), which rose 1.25% or 0.0008 points to trade at 0.0649 at the close. MTS (MCX: MTSS ) added 0.97% or 2.25 points to end at 233.25 and Aeroflot (MCX: AFLT ) was up 0.94% or 2.00 points to 214.70 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX: LSRG ), which lost 3.74% or 31.0 points to trade at 797.0 in late trade. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX: GMKN ) declined 3.26% or 283.0 points to end at 8410.0 and NLMK ao (MCX: NLMK ) shed 2.29% or 2.90 points to 123.85.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 98 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.88% to 21.050.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.31% or 3.91 to $1245.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.38% or 0.18 to hit $47.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.11 to trade at $49.59 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.25% to 58.8470, while EUR/RUB rose 0.65% to 68.4710.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 94.06.
