Russia shares lower at close of trade; MICEX down 0.70%
Credit: © Reuters. – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.70%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX: BANE ), which rose 1.88% or 58.0 points to trade at 3149.0 at the close. MVideo (MCX: MVID ) added 1.82% or 5.80 points to end at 325.00 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX: BANE_p ) was up 1.29% or 25.0 points to 1970.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Severstal - ao (MCX: CHMF ), which lost 2.78% or 22.70 points to trade at 793.30 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX: NLMK ) declined 2.65% or 2.50 points to end at 91.76 and Lukoil (MCX: LKOH ) shed 2.42% or 68.0 points to 2738.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 119 to 100 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.04% to 28.270.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.37% or 5.05 to $1351.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.75% or 0.75 to hit $42.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 0.67 to trade at $44.31 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.27% to 64.6013, while EUR/RUB rose 0.18% to 72.172.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 95.60.
