Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE), which rose 3.44% or 0.900 points to trade at 27.100 at the close. Repsol (MC:REP) added 3.28% or 0.315 points to end at 9.921 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 3.25% or 0.141 points to 4.482 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which lost 2.72% or 0.545 points to trade at 19.515 in late trade. Bankia (MC:BKIA) declined 1.39% or 0.011 points to end at 0.778 and Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) shed 0.80% or 0.08 points to 9.82.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 130 to 69 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1257.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.57% or 1.44 to hit $41.80 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.78% or 1.62 to trade at $44.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.7991.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 94.09.
