Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 2.69% or 0.150 points to trade at 5.721 at the close. Bankinter (MC:BKT) added 1.69% or 0.106 points to end at 6.397 and BBVA (MC:BBVA) was up 1.61% or 0.086 points to 5.429 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA), which lost 0.71% or 0.90 points to trade at 126.60 in late trade. Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) declined 0.62% or 0.07 points to end at 10.38 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) shed 0.42% or 0.135 points to 32.195.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 135 to 60 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.14% or 1.90 to $1326.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $47.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.16 to trade at $49.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1230, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8539.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 95.19.
