Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Banking and Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.74%, while the ADX General index added 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 2.81% or 0.022 points to trade at 0.804 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) added 2.36% or 0.050 points to end at 2.170 and Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA) was up 1.93% or 0.050 points to 2.640 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which lost 4.26% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.382 in late trade. Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) declined 4.20% or 0.04 points to end at 0.96 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) shed 1.54% or 0.030 points to 1.920.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Medical Projects Co PSC (AD:GMPC) which rose 14.78% to 3.96, Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was up 12.50% to settle at 0.630 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which gained 9.78% to close at 1.0100.
The worst performers were Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which was down 9.09% to 1.000 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which lost 5.17% to settle at 0.550 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 4.94% to 0.770 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 21 to 10 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 rose and 10 declined, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.46% or 0.69 to $48.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.41% or 0.71 to hit $50.93 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.39% or 4.78 to trade at $1223.68 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.04% to 3.9932.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 99.50.
