United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.05%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Services , Transport and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.05% to hit a new 52-week low, while the ADX General index declined 1.87%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU: TKFE ), which rose 5.41% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.950 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU: DINV ) added 1.83% or 0.040 points to end at 2.230 and Amlak Finance PJSC (DU: AMLK ) was up 1.22% or 0.011 points to 0.910 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National Central Cooling Co. (DU: TABR ), which lost 2.79% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.740 in late trade. Gulf General Investments Company (DU: GGIC ) declined 2.50% or 0.009 points to end at 0.351 and Takaful House (DU: DTKF ) shed 1.77% or 0.013 points to 0.720.

The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD: GCEM ) which rose 2.83% to 1.0900, Emirates Telec (AD: ETEL ) which was up 2.60% to settle at 17.75 and National Takaful Co PJSC (AD: WATA ) which gained 2.08% to close at 0.49.

The worst performers were Em Driving Co (AD: DRIV ) which was down 6.52% to 8.60 in late trade, First Abu Dhabi Bank PJSC (AD: FAB ) which lost 6.47% to settle at 10.85 and Agthia Group (AD: AGTH ) which was down 5.21% to 4.00 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 21 to 8 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 7 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.50% or 0.31 to $62.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.37% or 0.24 to hit $65.78 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.43% or 5.70 to trade at $1325.60 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.11% to 4.5356.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 89.89.
