United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.85%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Finance & Investment , Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.85%, while the ADX General index lost 0.38%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU: TKFE ), which rose 1.07% or 0.030 points to trade at 2.840 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU: SHUA ) added 0.93% or 0.006 points to end at 0.649 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU: AIRA ) was up 0.71% or 0.010 points to 1.410 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU: DFM ), which lost 2.78% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.400 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU: AMAN ) declined 2.24% or 0.014 points to end at 0.610 and Takaful House (DU: DTKF ) shed 1.87% or 0.020 points to 1.050.

The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD: AKIC ) which rose 7.69% to 0.420, Em Driving Co (AD: DRIV ) which was up 3.45% to settle at 7.50 and Int Fish Farmi (AD: ASMK ) which gained 3.36% to close at 1.54.

The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD: ADSB ) which was down 6.69% to 2.650 in late trade, Ad Commercial (AD: ADCB ) which lost 5.04% to settle at 6.60 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD: ARKN ) which was down 3.45% to 0.8400 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 24 to 6 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 14 fell and 11 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.52% or 0.24 to $46.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.53% or 0.26 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.67% or 9.15 to trade at $1347.75 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.09% to 4.1388.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.90.
