United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.01%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Sunday, as losses in the Finance & Investment , Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.01% to hit a new 6-month low, while the ADX General index declined 0.45%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU: ARTC ), which rose 2.48% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.743 at the close. National Central Cooling Co. (DU: TABR ) added 1.05% or 0.020 points to end at 1.920 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU: AJBNK ) was up 0.84% or 0.010 points to 1.200 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU: AMAN ), which lost 3.82% or 0.027 points to trade at 0.680 in late trade. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU: DFM ) declined 2.80% or 0.030 points to end at 1.040 and Dubai Investments PJSC (DU: DINV ) shed 2.43% or 0.050 points to 2.010.

The top performers on the ADX General were Green Crs Ins (AD: GCIC ) which rose 15.00% to 0.690, Bank Of Sharja (AD: BOS ) which was up 7.50% to settle at 1.290 and Invest Bank AD (AD: INVB ) which gained 2.17% to close at 2.350.

The worst performers were Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD: NBQ ) which was down 9.06% to 2.81 in late trade, Sharjah Cement AD (AD: SCID ) which lost 8.16% to settle at 0.900 and Dana Gas (AD: DANA ) which was down 4.88% to 0.390 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 5 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 fell and 3 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.98% or 0.97 to $49.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.55% or 0.80 to hit $52.26 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.82% or 10.25 to trade at $1266.65 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.23% to 4.1060.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 97.33.
