United Arab Emirates shares mixed at close of trade; DFM General down 0.68%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms , Consumer Staples and Transport sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Real Estate & Construction , Banking and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.68%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.41%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU: DU ), which rose 1.50% or 0.080 points to trade at 5.410 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU: AMAN ) added 1.28% or 0.011 points to end at 0.871 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU: AIRA ) was up 1.00% or 0.010 points to 1.010 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU: ARTC ), which lost 8.47% or 0.255 points to trade at 2.750 in late trade. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU: SHUA ) declined 5.13% or 0.060 points to end at 1.110 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU: SALAMA ) shed 2.15% or 0.009 points to 0.410.

The top performers on the ADX General were National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (AD: NBF ) which rose 9.67% to 3.29, Union Cement (AD: UCC ) which was up 4.00% to settle at 1.300 and Agthia Group (AD: AGTH ) which gained 3.50% to close at 5.62.

The worst performers were Em Driving Co (AD: DRIV ) which was down 10.00% to 8.10 in late trade, Commercial Bank International (AD: CBI ) which lost 9.37% to settle at 1.160 and Rak Ceramics (AD: RKCE ) which was down 7.20% to 2.320 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 13 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 11 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.43% or 0.19 to $44.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $46.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.55% or 6.89 to trade at $1253.79 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.22% to 4.1745.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 95.94.
