Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Finance & Investment and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Banking, Services and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.15%, while the ADX General index lost 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 8.00% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.35 at the close. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) added 4.17% or 0.036 points to end at 0.900 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was up 3.77% or 0.029 points to 0.799 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which lost 8.21% or 6.80 points to trade at 76.00 in late trade. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) declined 2.44% or 0.030 points to end at 1.200 and Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) shed 1.85% or 0.020 points to 1.060.
The top performers on the ADX General were Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which rose 3.62% to 1.430, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 3.53% to settle at 0.880 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 3.39% to close at 0.610.
The worst performers were Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which was down 9.79% to 2.120 in late trade, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which lost 9.03% to settle at 2.720 and Buhaira Nat In (AD:ABNI) which was down 7.95% to 2.200 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 25 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 8 declined, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.56% or 0.28 to $49.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.55% or 0.29 to hit $52.28 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.31 to trade at $1266.89 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.33% to 4.0000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.90.
