U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.60%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts , Fixed Line Telecommunications and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.60%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON: SPX ), which rose 2.29% or 257.0 points to trade at 11502.0 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON: BRBY ) added 2.23% or 39.7 points to end at 1821.2 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON: SMT ) was up 1.77% or 20.00 points to 1147.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON: RR ), which lost 7.09% or 9.00 points to trade at 118.00 in late trade. NatWest Group PLC (LON: NWG ) declined 6.77% or 10.90 points to end at 150.20 and Tui AG (LON: TUIT ) shed 4.94% or 21.00 points to 404.70.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1380 to 890 and 63 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.64% or 11.75 to $1849.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $46.81 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $50.18 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.52% to 1.3224, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.9159.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 90.972.
