U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.69%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts , Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.69%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BP PLC (LON: BP ), which rose 2.03% or 10.05 points to trade at 504.10 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON: BAES ) added 1.34% or 7.80 points to end at 588.60 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON: CCH ) was up 0.88% or 23.0 points to 2628.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included NMC Health PLC (LON: NMC ), which lost 4.49% or 78.50 points to trade at 1671.50 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON: HIK ) declined 3.73% or 74.00 points to end at 1912.00 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON: HRGV ) shed 3.38% or 65.50 points to 1872.00.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1376 to 678 and 193 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.95% or 14.75 to $1567.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.22% or 0.14 to hit $63.19 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.24 to trade at $68.84 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.58% to 1.3162, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8505.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.325.
