U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.98%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications , Mining and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.98% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Whitbread PLC (LON: WTB ), which rose 1.26% or 41.0 points to trade at 3292.0 at the close. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON: ICP ) added 1.12% or 25.00 points to end at 2248.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON: BMEB ) was up 1.11% or 6.40 points to 584.40 in late trade.

Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON: EZJ ), which lost 10.24% or 80.80 points to trade at 708.20 in late trade. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON: CCH ) declined 4.36% or 113.0 points to end at 2482.0 and DCC plc (LON: DCC ) shed 3.43% or 218.0 points to 6140.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1183 to 789 and 456 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 1.10 to $1794.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $69.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.13 to trade at $72.47 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.59% to 1.3849, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8540.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 92.498.
