The JSE ended higher on Monday, as the weaker rand which touched R18 against the dollar at some point supported mining and industrial stocks which make up the majority of the domestic share market.
In company-specific news, Anglo American Platinum (JO:AMSJ) released a profit warning yesterday. The platinum miner expects headline earnings per share to drop by 33% to 52% for the 12 months ended December 2022 due to lower platinum group metals (PGM) sales volumes, and higher inflation which pushed up mining and processing costs. A delayed smelter project in Polokwane has also impacted their results.
